Frequently Asked Questions
1. How soon should I order my cake? You should call as soon as you have a date to check for availability. If the date is open, then you have opportunity to make an appointment to come in and check out my designs and make your selection.
2. Do you only do certain cake designs or are you able to recreate other styles of wedding cakes?
I am an artist, and most often, a client will bring me a collection of cake images that they have found, and together, we come up with a unique and individual design that suites the bride and her wedding style. Whatever you can dream up, I can create.
3. Will I need to make a deposit?
Be prepared to pay $50.00 to reserve the date for you. This allows me to start buying supplies and preparing to create your cake. Two weeks before your wedding date, I will need to be paid in full for the cake.
4. Do you charge more for intricate icing work or decorations?
Generally no. My prices include all of the decorations that you request on your cake.
5. What if I need to cancel the cake after it has been ordered?
If for some reason you must cancel your wedding cake, you should notify me as soon as possible. Normally, a forfeiture of the deposit will not be required. I understand that things can change.
6. What advice would you give for picking a cake for an outdoor wedding?
If you are planning an outdoor wedding in the summer heat remember - flies love sweets, heat melts most icings, chocolate curls will melt and fresh flowers will wilt in prolonged exposure to heat. Rain and wind can cause havoc such as collapsing tents and blowing table cloths right off of the tables. You need to have a backup site just in case of unforeseen extreme weather conditions. Of course if the weather cooperates an outdoor wedding is the best. Just be prepared in case mother nature turns on you. Outdoor receptions also have one other pitfall. Unlevel ground. Cake and food tables must be set up on level strong tables. Often the reception tables for seating are put onto solid level surfaces but the food and cake tables are scattered on the outskirts. Just make sure the people setting up your reception know to make those tables a priority in getting them sturdy and level.
